Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about The Bush & Beach Retreat
What makes B&B Retreat different from kennels?

Bush & Beach Retreat is a boutique boarding experience for up to two dogs at a time. No kennels, no crowds — just calm, personalised care in a peaceful home surrounded by nature. Your dog receives my full attention, affection, and companionship throughout their stay.

Do you really only take up to two dogs at a time?

Yes — always. I welcome one or two dogs, and they don’t need to be from the same household. This ensures a quiet, stress‑free environment and allows me to tailor every part of the stay to each dog’s needs and personality.

Is this suitable for anxious or sensitive dogs?

Absolutely. Many of my guests are anxious, shy, or overwhelmed by busy environments. The calm home setting and one‑on‑one attention help them settle beautifully.

Where will my dog sleep?

Your dog sleeps inside the home, in a cosy, comfortable space with soft bedding. If they’re used to a crate or specific setup at home, I’m happy to follow their routine.

Can you administer medication?

Yes. I can administer oral medications, supplements, and basic care routines.

Do you take long‑term bookings?

Yes — extended stays are welcome. I often care for dogs whose humans travel for work, holidays, or FIFO schedules. Longer stays receive discounted nightly rates.

Do you accept puppies?

Yes — I’m happy to welcome puppies from around 6 months of age. As long as they’re comfortable in a calm home environment and have the basics of toilet training, they settle in beautifully here. Additional support is available for younger pups who may need a little extra guidance and supervision.

What should I bring for my dog’s stay?

To help your dog feel comfortable and settled during their time at Bush & Beach Retreat, please pack:

  • Their regular food (or select our meal add‑on option)

  • Any required medications

  • Lead and harness

  • A favourite toy or comfort item

  • Bed or blanket (optional)

I provide all bowls, treats (with your approval), enrichment activities, and cosy bedding to ensure your dog feels right at home.

Will I get updates while I’m away?

Yes — every day. You’ll receive photos, videos, and honest updates so you always feel connected.

Are there any dogs you can’t accept?

For safety and wellbeing, I cannot accept:

  • Dogs with a history of aggression

  • Dogs who are not toilet‑trained (unless puppy add‑on applies)

  • Dogs who cannot be safely managed by one person

If you’re unsure, we can discuss it during the meet & greet.

Do your prices change during peak holiday periods?

Yes. During high‑season periods (school holidays and major public holidays), boarding and daycare rates increase. This reflects the higher demand and ensures every dog continues to receive the same calm, attentive, one‑on‑one care B&B Retreat is known for.

Do you offer discounts for regular clients?

We don’t offer standard discounts, but we do have a Preferred Client Rate for established guests. It’s a small consideration offered once your dog has stayed with us enough for us to know their needs well.
